no offence but...a judo black belt i can understand,(as black is really the beginning of learning real judo) but if you caught a BJJ black belt, then he aint a bonafied black. Black in BJJ is the pinnacle of your training and theres no way on earth someone who has been training for a year should be able to catch you.

He's clearly an awesome grappler! I think he looked far better than most blue belts. That was pretty surprising to hear he was a blue belt, I wouldn't have guessed that!

With out a doubt he's legit. He got caught, Kev has caught everyone in my gym from white to black belt. He's that kind of grappler, still leaves a lot to be improved but VERY dangerous.

First, everyone gets caught from time to time. Second, did Robin not look like a blackbelt when he was in the mount or when he locked up the triangle? Again all due respect to Kevin, it looked as if it were nearly over two mins in. Third, as far as his half guard goes, its hard to criticize a guy's half guard when he's using it to successfully get to full guard! Finally, from following BJJ, Robin Gieseler is more than a legitimate black belt!

Congratulations to Kevin. I won't make excuses for my performance. I was trying to swing back to the triangle postition and went too slow, his coach saw the opportunity and Kevin was sharp to take advantage. It sucks getting caught but it sucks worse not to compete. I will learn from my mistake and make corrections in my game. Kevin had a great day. He also caught a very, very tough purple belt ( who beat a black belt in the first round) after lasting over nine minutes with Tarsis Humphries.

and as far as how robin was rolling, there were some major things that looked very off to me. for example, the way he just layed there on his back when he had half guard. he didnt even try to get on his side at first.

i didnt say robin was handed a belt and i didnt say he wasnt a good technician. i dont know him so far be it for me to say something negative like that. i just said he wasnt rolling like a BB against a blue. catching that kneebar was awesome, but i didnt feel the other guy was really giving him that much game to make a BB look that bad. his passes were non existant when he had the opportunities for starters.
